Training: June 22 5:00-700pm MST via Zoom. Sliding Scale pricing available with promo code below.
This 3 hour, innovative introductory training explores the foundations of trauma informed care (TIC) with a focus specifically on supporting young people affected by the stress, stigma, and systemic impacts of a parent’s substance use.
Facilitated by Agnes Chen (Registered Nurse and Starlings Founder), and Tacia Tsimaras (Starlings Director of Education and Community Engagement) this session invites participants to move beyond broad-level approaches to TIC. Together, we will explore core principles, identify gaps in practice, and reflect on how structural barriers shape trauma responses, meaning-making, and relationships for young people.
Grounded in relational, anti-oppressive, and youth-centred approaches, this workshop blends research with lived experience to support participants to:
Understand the foundations of trauma informed care
Explore how trauma shows up in the bodies, behaviors, and care needs of youth navigating systems
Begin to apply TIC in ways that are authentic, trust-building, and relevant to the lives of youth impacted by a parent’s substance use
