About the event

Every child needs a champion

Every child deserves a champion – an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.”

― Rita Pierson, TedTalk

Knowing the impact educators have on the health and well-being of the youth they support, we are inviting educators to join our roundtable discussion to enhance our collective efforts in supporting the hope and healing of the youth they serve.

Goal:

  • Increase understanding of educators on the needs of impacted youth affected by the stress and stigma of a parent's substance use
  • Better understand the needs of educators supporting impacted youth
  • Better understand the barriers to resources and supports for affected youth  within the education system
  • Increase the presence of resources for educators to support youth

Thanks for being here.

We are all a part of the village raising the next generation. How can you BEST contribute.

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis, and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. We acknowledge all Nations – Indigenous and non – who live, work and play on this land, and who honour and celebrate this territory. Finally, we remain committed to continue to learn about the truth regarding Colonialism and residential schools in Canada, and will actively work towards reconciliation while advocating for our government to do so as well.
