An event created by youth and young adults who’ve supported or cared for a parent experiencing mental health or substance use challenges, for youth who’ve lived it too.
Because we are the change we’ve been waiting for.

Some Quick Facts
01
You can stay anonymous if you prefer.
We know the nerves that can come with joining an event like this on such a personal topic-YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Many of us are still practicing our bravery in this area. Choose a different first name, keep your screen off, and just listen in if you don't want other's to know you are there. We do need your email to register you and send you the zoom link. Need help with how to do this? Email us at programs@starlings.ca
02
We don't record our events to keep your privacy.
Since many of us prefer to keep our stories private, we do not record our events. Whether you’re a guest or a speaker, you choose what parts of your story to share, or not to share, and it stays in the room.
03
This is event is by peers for peers, this means WE GET IT.
Our yearly National Child's Day event was born because our peers did not see themselves or their stories reflected in other advocacy spaces. We understand the complexity of navigating the stress and stigma of a parent's substance use, and hope you feel less shame, more hope, and more inspiration to know you are not alone.

Want to help us make this event successful for young people?
We are always looking for our community champions. If you have a resource we can share, a prize we can give away, or funds to support this event, email CasssandraB@starlings.ca, we'd love to see how we can work together!
