Trauma-Informed Care (and Beyond): Making TIC Approaches Relevant to Youth Affected by Parental Substance Use Stigma
This 2 hour introductory training explores trauma-informed care (TIC) principles in the context of supporting young people who are affected by the stress and stigma of a parent’s substance use. Using a relational and anti-oppressive approach that centres young people’s emotional needs and lived experiences, this workshop focuses on supporting participants to:
-
Explore trauma in the context of the physical and emotional care needs of young people navigating systems
-
Review TIC principles while critically examining gaps and barriers to implementation of TIC in practice
-
Identify and practice strategies that shift from resilience narratives to healing justice, supporting youth to feel safe, seen, and supported in systems that often fail them.
This training is good for:

-
