1:1 Peer Mentorship

1:1 Peer Mentorship at Starlings was created to meet the needs of individuals who aren't ready or interested in group programs. For us, the mentorship space isn’t just about support—it’s about empowerment, healing, and growth next to people who get it. Each mentorship relationship is a space where you can make sense of and practice sharing your story, identify and set your own goals, and work on steps toward the life you envision with someone who gets it.

How does it work?

01

First, book a spot in our calendar of events found below or here. You'll get an email with a zoom link for the day you picked.

04

When comfortable, join our community of peers in a group setting to expand on all you've learned and support others as they navigate their journeys

02

Meet virtually with your peer mentor and explore how each session is set up, learn about the process like why we usually book 3 sessions in a row (but no pressure!) and where we answer any questions you have like these we've been asked before: " I'm moving out and worried, what did you do?"; "How can I find housing for my parent?" and "I don't like any counsellors I meet, what worked for you?" .

03

As a peer in Canada accessing our services, you get FREE access to our resources which are either snail mailed to you as a hard copy or provided as a PDF). YAY for free goods!

A peer group for 14+ year olds who are providing support and care to a parent with substance use challenges. Looking for groups for our younger peers? Check out our caregiver supports and our 1:1 sessions that young people can book with their trusted adult.

Growing up with a parent's addiction can be super stressful, so I am so proud of you for being here, and I hope you are too.

You and your family deserve a safe and happy life, to know you are loved, and to know there is a community that has your back.

It's not your fault, and you, your experiences and your feelings matter and and we will keep reminding you until you believe it.
