Starlings Caregiver Supports are aimed at supporting family caregivers (parents, grandparents, kinship caregivers and other important family members) in providing the resources, tools, and relationships that young people need to navigate their experiences and heal from past hurts.
We offer a peer perspective. This means, all the mentors you engage with will have had lived experience with parental substance use challenges. These experiences vary and include: the stress of a parents mental health and substance use, parental criminalisation, parental loss to death, as well as the shame and worry that can come with these experiences.

Order a Starling's Hope Kits for a youth who is growing up with parental substance use challenges-available for Alberta Families
Our Hope Kits are one way our peers can connect with young people who is growing up with the stress and stigma of a parent's substance use and decrease the stigma and shame they may feel.
Each hope kit is thoughtfully created and packed by peers with lived experience to support connection, validation, reflection, and healing for young people impacted by the stress and stigma of a parent's substance use. Not in Alberta? No worries, join our group sessions to learn more and if we have enough kits available, we can ship out of province, or, find other ways to connect with your youth.
