What Can you Expect?

This breathing practice is aimed to facilitate a return to wholeness in self. Through an activating breath pattern, participants may enter a non-ordinary state of mind. This is due to the chemical changes within the body that occur when breath is circular (without pause between the inhale and exhale), the pace is quickened and the quality of breath is consciously adjusted. Participants may unlock memories or access trapped energy in their bodies and have the opportunity to process these in a safe environment. The means of accessing this state of mind is through the medicine of breath. Participants can adjust their experience by slowing their breath should they feel the need to. This practice is helpful for exploring trauma and grief as it allows you to access emotions that may be suppressed by the conscious mind.

What does a breathwork session look like?

The group will gather in the space, creating a comfortable landing spot on a yoga mat or camping pad. Participants can bring a pillow, blanket and bolster. It is helpful to have an intention in mind (for example, I want to feel safe in my body, I will let go of what no longer serves me, I want to have fun). We will and explain the purpose of the practice as well as provide a demonstration. Then, the participants will lay on their mats and we will then guide them into the breathing pattern. Everyone will experience the session differently. Some may have a light and playful experience, others may access deep emotional processes. As facilitators, we will provide support, verbal prompts and hands-on somatic support. We may use tools such as drums, rattles, tuning forks and singing bowls to aid in the movement of energy. We may also encourage vocalisations or body movements. Once the breathwork session is complete (after about 30 minutes), the group will discuss their experience and offer shares if they feel called to do so. It is important to allow time for integration after breathwork. This may look like self-care, journalling, hydrating, allowing time for rest and sleep, movement, creative practices and seeking support through safe relationships.

Meet your Facilitator

Hello!

My name is Paveena. For the past 10 years I have been working in the mental health and addictions field as a Paramedic. Recently, I have spent more time focusing on my passion in helping others in a more holistic way.

I offer services such as Reiki, frequency healing with the use of tuning forks, death doula services, and holotropic breathwork! It brings me such joy to witness and hold space for others as they process their human experience here on Earth School! Outside of this work, I love to spend time with my partner and dog, as well as diving into astrology and numerology!
